John S. Morrison, a native of Elizabeth City, began practicing law in his hometown in 1972. His practice now focuses on business law and litigation, employment law, local government, governmental agencies, social security disability, estate planning and administration, elder law and land use. John has represented Currituck and Pasquotank Counties as their county attorney and now serves as county attorney to both Camden and Chowan Counties. During the course of his practice, he has represented Albemarle Hospital Authority, Gateway Bank & Trust, and Albemarle Mental Health Center.

In addition to his work at The Twiford Law Firm, P.C., John is a former board member of Centura Bank and a former instructor of political science and business law at the College of the Albemarle and of constitutional law at Elizabeth City State University, where he also served as a member of the Board of Trustees and still retains the title of Trustee Emeritus. John is a past member of the Vestry of Christ Episcopal Church in Elizabeth City, where he has been an Adult Sunday School teacher for over 20 years.

John is admitted to practice in all state courts of North Carolina, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a graduate of the Professional Trial Lawyers Institute and the advance course in Trial Advocacy administered by the National Association of Trial Lawyers.

John served as a United States Magistrate for the Eastern District of North Carolina in the 1980's.
